WHEN THEY SAY IT'S NOT THE MONEY...

WHEN THEY SAY IT'S NOT THE MONEY...

...IT'S THE MONEY.

The role of money in the continuation of circumcision.

"If you want to see what motivates a doctor to circumcise perfectly healthy baby boys... Just look in his driveway."

"I have some good friends who are obstetricians outside the military, and they look at a foreskin and almost see a $125 price tag on it.  Each one is that much money. Heck! if you do 10 a week, that's over $1,000 a week, and they don't take that much time."

(BlogOwnersNote:
As you will read in other posts in this Blog, the baby boys don't go through the usual procedure that anyone would go through when having surgery... Wheeled into the operating theatre... For the boys, they can be done anywhere. Strapped to the circ.boards and lined up, the doctor moves down the line like a factory production line. So potentially, if he did 8-an-hour, at $125 each... That's $1,000.oo per.hour.  Not bad! Sure a lot of us would like that income... but not the conscience!)

DIS-ASSEMBLY LINE.

DIS-ASSEMBLY LINE.

(November 17, 2012)

"Boys deserve better than the modification of THEIR genitals to

suit adults' sexual preferences, psychological needs,

financial interests or religious beliefs."

An R.N.’s blog I hadn’t seen before.

One of several posts on the subject, including on the AAP and Dr. Oz.

Well worth visiting, but disturbing.

The other student nurse and I watched from the nursery, outside the little room.

I understood the procedure from a textbook perspective, but still, I didn’t know what to expect.

The doctor swept into the tiny room in a hurry, and got right to business.

He worked his way in a circle, quickly injecting each boy’s penis with Lidocaine: one, two, three, four.

All of the babies were screaming by that point.

Then, he started over at the beginning—hardly giving the anesthetic any time to take effect—and began to cut.

I was horrified.

Then, what happened next was what really made the experience stick in my head forever.

He finished with the last baby, propped up the board the little one was strapped to so we could see more clearly, and gestured to his bleeding penis.

He looked at us, two young women and said, “Now that looks more familiar to ya, doesn’t it?” and he winked.

What a pig!  My mouth fell open and I blushed, not knowing what to do.

He laughed and left the room so the nurse could clean up his mess.

I could never make eye-contact with him again after that day…

My Turn...

When I got pregnant, my husband and I had a brief discussion that went something like this: I said, “If we have a boy, we’re not going to circumcise him.”

Then Jaymz said, “Yeah, I know, why would we do that?

It’s wrong to cut on babies for no reason.” End of discussion.”

CIRCUMCISION - RISKS.

CIRCUMCISION - RISKS.

Risks of circumcision.

As with all types of surgery, circumcision has some risks.

However, complications from circumcisions carried out for medical
reasons are rare in England.

Bleeding and infection are the most common problems associated
with circumcision.

Other complications can include:
  • a decrease in sensation in the penis, particularly during sex
  • damage to the tube that carries urine inside the penis (urethra),
causing it to narrow and making it hard to pass urine.
  • accidental amputation of the head of the penis, which is very rare.
  • a blood infection or blood poisoning (septicaemia).
Problems with circumcisions carried out for religious or cultural
reasons may go unreported.

THE INTACTIVISM SHOP.

"THE  FORESKIN  IS  NOT  A  BIRTH  DEFECT."

The Intactivism Shop.   ~   Promoting Genital Integrity.

Where only the prices are rounded off...!!!

The foreskin is not a birth defect.

Neither is it a congenital deformity or genital anomaly akin to a sixth finger or a cleft palate.

Neither is it a medical condition like a ruptured appendix or diseased gall bladder nor is it a dead part of the body, like the umbilical cord, hair, or fingernails.
The foreskin is normal, natural, healthy tissue with which all boys are born.

Unless there is a medical or clinical indication, the circumcision of healthy, non-consenting individuals is a deliberate wound; it is the destruction of normal, healthy tissue, the permanent disfigurement of normal, healthy organs, and by definition, infant genital mutilation, and a violation of the most basic of human rights.

Doctors have absolutely no business performing surgery on healthy,non-consenting individuals, much less stoking a parent's sense of entitlement.

PHIMOSIS AND TOPICAL STEROIDS.

Phimosis and Topical Steroids: New Clinical Findings.

Phimosis has been defined as unretractable foreskin without adherences and/or a circular band of tight prepuce preventing full retraction.

The aim of this study is to evaluate the efficacy (response rate) of topical steroids for the treatment of tight phimosis at different age stages.

After using the same medication with different dosage schemes, a retrospective analysis was carried out to assess the efficacy of topical steroids in the treatment of tight phimosis.

Patients were divided into three groups:
group A (betamethasone scheme A),
group B (betamethasone scheme B) and
group C (control group).

Remission of phimosis, with a complete exposure and without a narrowing behind the glans, was considered a complete response to treatment.

The outcomes were then related to dosage scheme and patient’s age.

The dosage for group A was more effective than the dosage for groups B and C (control group).

Phimosis resolved in:-
90% (group A),
72% (group B) and
56% (group C) of cases.

A successful treatment was closely related to the age of patients at the beginning of steroid application.

The results showed that treatment with topical steroids, which in general gives good results, proved to be much more successful in patients aged between
4 and 8 years, suggesting the efficacy of an early beginning of the treatment.
