HELP INTACT AMERICA.

Help Intact America Stop this
Unethical Circumcision Experiment.

At Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, OH more than two hundred baby boys will be circumcised in a study to determine whether the Gomco or the Mogon clamps are “better” in terms of pain and complications.

They will be measuring this by observing which clamp results in more
blood-soaked bandages and whether the babies are showing painful facial expressions during the procedure.

Although it is still somewhat common for people to think that this surgery is necessary or even preventative, every proposed benefit has been thoroughly debunked.

The reality is that this procedure permanently removes an important, functional and highly sensitive part of the body while putting the child at serious risk.

Over one hundred little boys die from circumcision in the United States every year.

There is even an organization started by doctors who refuse to perform this unnecessary surgery because they see it as a direct violation of the Hippocratic Oath.

CIRCUMCISION GIVES MEN AN EXCUSE NOT TO USE CONDOMS.

Circumcision Gives Men An Excuse Not To Use Condoms.

In recent years circumcision has been lauded by Swazi public health officials as a procedure that reduces the rate of HIV transmission by about 50 percent, but it is far from the silver bullet solution some men see it as.

The problem is not with the procedure, but the way it is abused by men, so that men think they are now immune from HIV contagion, said Siphiwe Hlope, an HIV-positive woman and founder of the support group, Swazis for Positive Living (SWAPO).

Hlope said SWAPO members were becoming increasingly aware of an attitude that circumcision protected men from HIV infection, while also providing an excuse not to use condoms something Swazi men have long loathed doing.
Joy Magongo, a mother of two whose husband moved out to live with his second wife after the couple discovered they were both HIV-positive, told IRIN: Men say, 'I've been circumcised. I don't have to wear a condom.'
They get infected, and they give us HIV.

My husband did not believe he could be HIV-positive because he was circumcised. I did all I could to convince him to test, and he finally did.

That was the end, He [my husband] was circumcised and felt he didn't have to wear a condom. When we found we had HIV after testing, he blamed me.

He said, 'You brought HIV into this house.' It was because I tested first, when I was pregnant with my second child, she said.
My husband did not believe he could be HIV-positive because he was circumcised.
I did all I could to convince him to test, and he finally did. That was the end.
He took another wife and left us, Magongo said.
Polygamy is legally recognised in Swaziland.
AIDS in Africa has a woman's face, Hlope said.
People think the disease originates with women.

Why? Because it is the women who are tested first, when they are about to give birth. She said Magongo's story was an unintended consequence of the circumcision campaign by the country's health ministry and AIDS NGOs.

Families blame women when HIV comes into the house, and it results in all sorts of abuse, from physical abuse to denial of spousal and child support, and loss of property rights.

While not disputing the advantages of male circumcision in reducing the rate of HIV transmission, Hlope said the gender dynamics of Swaziland's culture should be taken into account.
The incorrect belief that circumcision was a panacea for the disease was making life more difficult and dangerous for women.

It's the law of unintended consequences, said a Zambian doctor who treats HIV/AIDS patients at government hospitals, and who declined to be named. Introducing the procedure, there was insufficient attention given to cultural factors, attitudes and human psychology.

Many of the men I speak with think circumcision is like an AIDS vaccine.
It's not. It's a useful tool to reduce chances of infection at a time and place where few other tools are available, but you can still contract HIV and pass it onto a partner, he said.

Many of the men I speak with think circumcision is like an AIDS vaccine.

It's not. It's a useful tool to reduce chances of infection at a time and place where few other tools are available Jackson Dlamini, 25, a strapping man taking a break from weight training at a local gym, told IRIN he was considering circumcision as a way to protect himself from HIV.

This AIDS is bad. Nobody admits they are HIV [positive], but so many people are dying. I don't want to give up sex, so I am getting circumcised, Dlamini said. When told that counsellors at Mbabane Government Hospital would advise him to carry on using condoms even after the operation, Dlamini said, "It is painful to get circumcised".

If I have to wear a condom anyway, what is the point?
HIV counsellor Henry du Pont is used to hearing men express similar sentiments.   The problem with male circumcision is not the procedure, but communications, he told IRIN.
We always end up against men's stubborn dislike of condoms.
Education about circumcision should stress a clear and consistent message that the procedure should be part of the HIV prevention measures, she said.

Until that happens, women will be infected with HIV this way, and ... male circumcision may do more harm than good if it is misused to deny women full protection.

TEACH BOYS TO RETRACT THE FORESKIN.

How to Teach Boys to Retract the Foreskin When Urinating.

All children have to be potty trained.
Girls are much different to potty train than boys; and boys must be taught differently depending on whether they are circumcised or not.

Uncircumcised boys have the foreskin still intact and they need to learn how to properly hygienically care for their genitals in order to avoid tearing the skin or causing pain.

In order to teach boys how to retract the foreskin of the penis when urinating, you should know it's all about repetition.

1... Have a trusted male family member such as the father, older son, your brother, or your father take your son to the bathroom.
Most children are visual learners, so in order for your boy to learn how to properly use his equipment, he needs to watch an older male use his.

2... Establish a routine when going to the potty.
Make up a song or do the same thing every time your boy goes potty.
A routine should include the following steps for an uncircumcised boy.
You can add more if you like.

Step 1: Pull down pants.
Step 2: Pull down underwear.
Step 3: Pull back skin.
Step 4: Sit down and potty.
Step 5: Wipe if needed and pull up underwear.
Step 6: Pull up pants.
If your child forgets to perform one of the steps, take him back and remind him of the steps that were put in place.
Model the steps if needed or help him with the steps.

3...  Institute a reward system. For example, give your son one small prize like stickers or stick on tattoos for each step he remembers each time he goes to the potty correctly.

4... Show him how to properly clean himself in the bathtub and explain why he needs to keep the foreskin of his penis clean. Make moving the foreskin a normal practice during potty training and bath time.

Tips & Warnings.
Most male foreskins will balloon when they need to urinate and may not need to be pulled back each time your son uses the potty.

Never try to pull back foreskin that is still attached to the glans.
This can cause severe pain, stretching of the skin, bleeding, and tearing.
You will know the foreskin is detaching from the glans when it begins to balloon as your son urinates.

THE BIOETHICS OF THE CIRCUMCISION OF MALE CHILDREN.

The Bioethics of the Circumcision of Male Children.

Human Rights.

International human rights law has profoundly transformed medical ethics.

This page, therefore, indexes human rights instruments in addition to medical ethics documents.

The Physician's Oath of the World Medical Association requires doctors to use their medical knowledge in compliance with "the laws of humanity."

The codes of medical ethics of Australia, Canada, Norway, and the United States  all require doctors to respect the human rights of patients.

The United Kingdom makes respect for the human rights of patients a legal requirement by the Human Rights Act 1998.
Children enjoy certain human rights (including the right to special protection) under general human rights instruments.

They also enjoy additional protections under special instruments related to childhood.***

The UN Commission on the former Yugoslavia defines circumcision as sexual assault and a human rights violation.

In Article 24.3 of the Convention on the Rights of the Child the phrase, "traditional procedures prejudicial to the health of children," refers to the practice of circumcision.

The circumcision of male children, therefore, violates numerous provisions of various international human rights instruments, and must be considered unethical medical practice.

Doctors Opposing Circumcision has released a detailed report on human rights and the circumcision of children.

***
See ‘Attorneys for the Rights of the Child’ for a table of human rights that are violated by circumcision of male children.

SPECIALIZED TISSUE OF THE PENIS.

This summary is not available. Please click here to view the post.

FUNCTION OF THE FORESKIN.

FUNCTION OF THE FORESKIN.

The foreskin occupies a prominent position on an important organ.
The foreskin’s location and structure indicate that it is the most important sensory tissue of the penis.
Its persistence over millions of years suggests that it has played a role in the propagation of the species.

A well-integrated organ...

Structurally, the penis is highly integrated.
The glans, foreskin and skin of the penile shaft function as a single unit, not as a collection of separate parts with entirely different functions.
The functions of the glans and foreskin are similar, and overlapping, but come fully into their own at different times during intercourse.

The various parts of the penis, including the foreskin, form a functional whole.

The foreskin is the primary sensory tissue of the penis.

The ridged band of the foreskin is built to trigger orgasm and ejaculation.
