MALE GENITAL INTEGRITY.
GENITAL INTEGRITY... IS THE PRINCIPLE THAT ALL HUMAN BEINGS - WHETHER MALE, FEMALE OR INTERSEXED - HAVE THE RIGHT TO THE GENITALIA THEY WERE BORN WITH. IT OPPOSES INVOLUNTARY AND MEDICALLY UNNECESSARY GENITAL MODIFICATION INCLUDING MALE OR FEMALE CIRCUMCISION, OR SEXUAL REASSIGNMENT SURGERY ON INTERSEXED CHILDREN.

COMPLICATIONS FOLLOWING MALE CIRCUMCISION.
Complications following
Male Circumcision.
Operation results may vary because a
successful circumcision depends on the skill of the surgeon or medical
practitioner, the medical reasons for circumcision, the method of circumcision,
the amount of tissue removed and the way in which the wound heals.
The American Academy of Pediatrics has
reported that while the exact incident of post-operative complications
following a circumcision is unknown, it is thought to be between 2-10 per cent.
One of the reasons for this is that many problems following circumcision do not become apparent until the child grows into adulthood.
One of the reasons for this is that many problems following circumcision do not become apparent until the child grows into adulthood.
Bleeding and infection are the most
common problems. The child's urine tends to irritate the exposed glans and in
rare cases can cause infection.
Post operative bleeding should be minimal.
Pain is common in any wound and circumcision is no exception.
Pain should, however, be a short term difficulty.
Research studies on circumcised men report that discomfort or pain during erections and at the scar site are not uncommon.
Other long term post operative of circumcision include disfigurement of the penis when too much skin is removed and erectile curvature from uneven skin loss. Scarring may cause numbness.

WHY WE CHOSE NOT TO CIRCUMCISE OUR SON.
Why We Chose NOT to Circumcise Our Son.
I’m a bit depressed. Our midwife gave me a book about
circumcision.
I’ve started the book and can’t put it down. I’m not sure that I’ll ever fully recover.
I’ve started the book and can’t put it down. I’m not sure that I’ll ever fully recover.
The book tells me that the foreskin is like an eyelid protecting
the sensitive mucous membrane underneath. Circumcision removes this protective
skin, so the skin underneath keratinizes, meaning it hardens and desensitizes,
like a callus.
Therefore, the book posits, circumcision removes length and
girth from the penis and decreases enjoyment of sex. You do not say these
things to a man. I’m trying to climb out of the hole. I tell myself that most
men in the United States are circumcised, so it’s a level playing field.
It just means that uncircumcised men are heroes and that we are
at a disadvantage when we leave the country. Now, keep in mind that whether or
not sex is less pleasurable without a foreskin is, of course, very difficult to
test. Nobody is lining up for a double-blind controlled study.
Circumcision was the new snake oil. It
was touted to prevent or cure syphilis, epilepsy, hernia, headache, clubfoot,
alcoholism, gout, and, god forbid, masturbation!
As I read older parenting
books, I am absolutely astonished at how often people bring up masturbation.
They were obsessed. “We must stop this epidemic!”

CIRCUMCISED BOYS DEVELOP AUTISM AND ADHD.
Circumcised boys may be more
likely to develop autism
and ADHD by the age of 10, study claims.
#The findings hold regardless of cultural
background, say researchers.
#They suggest the pain caused by circumcision may
be partly to blame.
#This may in turn affect how the brain develops and
reacts to stress.
#Study looked at 340,000 boys born in Denmark
between 1994 and 2003.
#But experts have urged caution over the 'extremely
speculative findings'.
Circumcision before the age of five can double a boy's risk of developing
autism, controversial research suggests.
Scientists believe the finding may be
linked to stress caused by the pain of the procedure.
The study of more than 340,000 boys in
Denmark found that circumcision raised the overall chances of an autism
spectrum disorder before the age of 10 by 46 per cent.
But if circumcision took place before
the age of five it doubled the risk.
Circumcision also appeared to increase
the likelihood of boys from non-Muslim families developing hyperactivity
disorder.

CIRCUMCISION GUIDELINES TARGET TEENAGERS.
Circumcision Guidelines Target Teenagers.
...by Roni Rabin (East
Meadow Jewish Center).
Doctors
should start telling sexually active teenage boys who aren’t circumcised that
if they have the surgery, they can reduce their risk of contracting H.I.V. and
other sexually transmitted infections from their female partners, federal
health officials propose.
Similar counselling is urged for adult heterosexual men
who remain uncircumcised and for expectant parents who will be making a
decision about newborn circumcision if they have a boy, according to the new
recommendations, proposed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Most
American boys are circumcised as newborns, but the percentage of parents having
their infants circumcised in hospitals has fallen in recent years, even as
evidence from African studies suggests that it may be protective.
Georganne
Chapin, founding director of Intact America, a national group that opposes
circumcision, argued that the United States had historically had much higher
rates of circumcision than European countries, “but we still had comparable or
even higher rates of sexually transmitted diseases than in European countries,
where there is virtually no circumcision.”

STOPPING F.G.M; DIFFICULT CHALLENGE.
Stopping Female-Genital-Mutilation;
a Difficult Challenge.
It would be virtually impossible for authorities to stop people taking children overseas to undergo genital mutilation, unless they have received evidence ahead of time, according to Australian Foreign Minister, Julie Bishop.
Ms. Bishop on Wednesday urged relatives or friends to alert authorities if they learned children were being taken abroad to undergo female genital mutilation.
It came as The Guardian Australia reported a Brisbane girl, believed to be aged between four and seven-years-old was suspected to have been taken by her father, possibly to the west African nation of Gambia, for the procedure.
The deputy director of gynaecology at Mater Mother's Hospital, Elize Bolton, said she saw between three and five patients a year who had undergone the procedure, which is also known as female circumcision, at the anti-natal clinic the hospital runs for refugees.
During the procedure, females, often just girls, have their external genitalia removed, most often without anaesthesia.
Depending on how far the person performing it goes, the clitoris, urethra, labia minora and labia majora can be cut off, with tools ranging from knives to anything sharp, such as a tin lid. The area is then stitched, leaving a very small vaginal opening for the woman to menstruate and urinate.
Complications include bleeding, infection, difficulty passing urine and pain during sexual intercourse. Depending on the level of scar tissue, child birth can be an issue.
Dr Bolton said in many cases, the woman's vagina had to be cut open in order for her to give birth.
"It is horrible for us because we are not used to it - but in Africa you do what the community does, because if you don't you get thrown out - so a mother may take a daughter, because even if it was traumatic for her, if she doesn't do it, she will be thrown out”, she said.
“And we think why would a mother do that to her daughter, but we don't have to fight day to day for our living. And if she didn't, she would be thrown out of her community; and being thrown out to live on your own in Africa... that doesn't bear thinking about.”

WHAT IS MALE GENITAL INTEGRITY?
What is Male Genital
Integrity?
It is easy to define genital integrity.
Everyone has genitals.
However, it becomes a problem to define male genitals as simply a penis and scrotum.
We could simply define male as a
biological category and say that to be a proper male your genitals must look a stereotypical
way. And that only those who have the "right kind" of male genitals
can be called real men.
But it is this very attitude of defining "male" that leads to forced genital cutting of infants and children. According to this type of logic to be "male" your genitals must match your gender.
But it is this very attitude of defining "male" that leads to forced genital cutting of infants and children. According to this type of logic to be "male" your genitals must match your gender.
Proponents of infant male circumcision
always refer to infants who have a penis, a foreskin, and a scrotum as
"male."
This is because society dictates what
male genitals are supposed to look like and that only males can have those
genitals.
Therefore, male circumcision often refers to the cutting of the prepuce, a fold of sensitive skin, from around the penis.
Therefore, male circumcision often refers to the cutting of the prepuce, a fold of sensitive skin, from around the penis.
Male Genital Cutting...
Circumcision often removes all of the loose skin from the penile shaft, skin that usually covers the glans of the penis. North American society usually circumcises their infants who have a penis and a scrotum for "health" reasons even though most pediatric medical associations say it does not improve health.
While the American Academy of Pediatrics says male circumcision may be practiced for "cultural" reasons it condemns all cultural practices that circumcise females, even those that merely prick the clitoral hood.
Many circumcisions happen because of misconceptions and ideology of proper male genitals.
The "benefits," such as "better appearance" or the prevention of urinary tract infections (UTIs) cannot justify the forced amputation or alteration of sexual tissues from infants and children.
Citing the example above, recurring UTIs are often caused by internal problems not external ones, and infants and children with penises rarely have UTIs.
According to the American Academy of Pediatrics medical library, about 3 percent of girls and 1 percent of boys will have a UTI by 11 years of age.
Circumcising children for health reasons is unfounded and irrational.

MALE CIRCUMCISION IS GENITAL MUTILATION.
Study Confirms
Male Circumcision is
Genital Mutilation.
A new study in the
British Journal of Urology International shows that men with normal, intact
penises enjoy more sexual sensitivity - as much as four times more - than those
who have been circumcised.
Circumcising slices off more of a male's sensitivity than is normally present in all ten fingertips.
Circumcising slices off more of a male's sensitivity than is normally present in all ten fingertips.
In every site tested, intact men have as much or more fine-touch skin sensitivity on their penis and foreskin than a man who has been circumcised. Circumcision removes the most sensitive portions of the penis.
This new study demonstrates what we have suspected for decades that circumcision’s result - if not its intent - is reduced sexual pleasure for men. As such, it is a violation of a male’s right to bodily integrity.
In large part, female circumcision does the same; even the mildest forms remove the most sensitive portions of the female genitalia.
Females in the USA and many other countries are protected by law from all forms of genital cutting.
The mistaken belief behind circumcision is that it is cleaner, healthier, protects against disease, and will make males more tractable in a society.
Because circumcision has such a drastic effect on sexuality later in life, no infant or child should ever experience a non-therapeutic circumcision.
Parents should not be allowed to control their son’s level of sexual sensitivity because of personal bias or prejudice, just as no parent should be allowed to request for their son or daughter any other sensitivity-reducing surgery; for example, eye surgery that would limit vision from colour to black-and-white.
In addition, circumcised men, with one-fourth the sensitivity of intact men, might decline to wear further-desensitizing condoms. Some may consider themselves “safe” because of circumcision, adding to their determination to have sex without a condom.
Adult men who want circumcision for themselves should be advised per proper informed consent that penile sensitivity will be reduced on average by a factor of four.
Men should also be advised that circumcision will not prevent the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases, including HIV/AIDS.

AN ELEPHANT IN THE HOSPITAL.
Child Circumcision:
An Elephant in the Hospital.
What is infant circumcision?
Why is the practice common
in U.S. hospitals and not in other countries?
What does it remove and how does
that affect the child?
Does scientific data suggest that circumcision has
benefits?
What are the potential complications?
How does it affect sexuality?
Is it a medical procedure or a social surgery?
If it's unnecessary surgery,
what about contemporary bioethics principles?
Circumcision was at a statistical height of about 75% of
the country from 1950 to 1970.
Today it is becoming less popular, partially
because of high numbers of Hispanic immigrants, and growing opposition in the
more progressive northeast and west (it remains overwhelmingly common in the
South).
Today, the major medical societies in the USA do not recommend routine
non-therapeutic infant circumcision.
This has long also been the case in the
rest of the English speaking world, which has never seen circumcision rates as
high as the United States.
